Kite Festival at Dorey Park
March 11, 2007 9:34 PM

Kite FestivalThe ninth annual Kite Festival at Dorey Park on Saturday was a blast! My family and I went out to the event, held in eastern Henrico County, to do something different and get out in the great weather we had this weekend. My two small kids really enjoyed the kites and the activities (though waiting in line for 20 minutes for one slip down a blow-up slide will never seem worth the time). The displays by the Richmond Air Force kite club were extremely cool and I’m quite impressed with what people can do with some string, sticks, cloth and wind. If you have never been to a kite festival of any kind, I recommend it highly. I’ve played soccer at Dorey Park many times over the years and it is almost always windy out there—perfect for kite-flying. The RAF meets out there the first Sunday of each month, so maybe you could sneak a peak another time.

See a photo slideshow from the festival. The video I shot would be better, but I’m not sure what I shot would be up to the standard of most of the video we post on our websites.
