St. Chrysostom Church
March 04, 2007 10:25 PM
A blustery day produced a fine view of this church, located on the scenic St. Jospeh’s Villa campus in central Henrico County.
Phil Riggan Reader Comments: My father worked at St. Josephs Villa for years when I was a child. I have always known this church as ST. Joseph’s Villa Catholic Church. At one time it was an orphange that took many Cubans in during the Kennedy days. I went to school there since our father worked there it was tuition free. I was standing in front of the flagpole in front of that school when we were told of President Kennedy’s death. The Mother Superior was Sister Helen. When she passed away, there was a storm and lightening struck a tree in front of the Church and it broke and settled in the shape of a Crucifix. The memories of St. Joseph’s Church and the Villa date back to 1956. The Church is as beautiful today as it was when I was a child.
